Privacy Policy and Cookies

Hi and welcome! If you’ve clicked here it must mean you care a lot about your data privacy and the recent GDPR implementation which is great and not before time... we all deserve better protection. I really do take your privacy very seriously but will try and lighten this legal information to make it mildly more of a pleasure to digest! This page informs you of my policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information when you use the Service.

David Blackshaw Photographer trading as DB Photography (“I'', ''us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the website (the “Service”) I will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

While using our Service, I may ask you to provide me with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you, e.g. if you fill out a form on a Contact page or to check my Availability for your wedding date. This is called 'legitimate interests'. This information you give is obviously very necessary so that I can check the date and provide a quote. This information will be held up to the wedding date you specified. After this date it is deleted coz then I don't need it and I know you no longer will require a wedding photographer. Now (this is important) unlike some companies that love love love to collect data, I only use this information for the reasons stated when you provide it and don't share or sell this information to anyone outside of DB Photography. Basically, we don't indulge in remarketing so you won't get hassled.

The website does collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service (“Log Data”). This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics. We use Google Analytics, their own privacy policy can be found at

Cookies unfortunately are not of the edible variety, but files with small amounts of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer’s hard drive. We use “cookies” to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service. Some cookies on this website help provide you with information from our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram feeds. You may want to check out their own policies too

I'm always happy to show you the information I have held about you, it’ll usually be the standard wedding things you’ve told me about... sometimes though I make a note of other stuff that came up in our conversations... like things that we share a passion for, for example Rum or perhaps a honeymoon destination, that sort of thing. If some of the information is wrong, you have the right to correct it, and I would definitely recommend this. Neither of us want me turning up at the wrong wedding or offering useless advice on the best places to drink Rum in the Caribbean when your honeymooning in Vegas! If you’d like me to delete all your personal data, you have the right to request it, but I wouldn’t recommend asking for that until after your wedding. I definitely need to know stuff about you so I can tailor my approach and offer my best.

The security of your Personal Information is very important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We don't take any form of payment on this site, so no worries there.

Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services. Our online gallery is operated by Everybody Smile. Although photos of people are deemed as personal data I have 'legitimate interests' for storing and using all photographs I take at any wedding or event I am commissioned to cover. My photographs are my intellectual property and I have the rights to use them for marketing purposes after the wedding. This could involve, online galleries, social media sites, this or suppliers websites and possibly sample albums. I do ask for these permissions when you book, but if you change your mind I really don't mind keeping some or all of your images private. I'm sure all your invited guests will assume that if you have a Professional Photographer present on the day they may well end up in one, two or a dozen plus photos. However, can I ask that you make your guests aware that I am in attendance. We all know that uncle Charlie loves having his photo taken but Aunt Sally might be having a bad hair day. So if someone would rather not be snapped please tell them to make themselves 'known' to me and I will do my very best to avoid them! I store my images for a minimum of 12 months after the wedding. You are welcome to approach me at anytime to ask me to remove all the images I have as long as you're absolutely sure you wont lose your own files!

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13 (“Children”). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with Personal Information, we will delete such information from our servers immediately. Parents worried about images of their children can always contact me, however please ask the bride and groom's permission before asking me to delete bridal party photos which include their very cute bridesmaids, flower girls or page boys.

Phew! that's about it, well at least for now! Congratulations if you have read through all the above, it's great you're concerned about your privacy, much respect! If you're another tog (that's a photographer) and you're just here to check out what you yourself should be doing to be GDPR compliant, to be honest that's fine. Please don't copy my privacy policy but by all means take inspiration from it, perhaps when we bump into each other you'll buy me a Cuba Libre (rum and coke).

I'm sure we'll need to pop back and update things from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.

Finally.. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions about this Privacy Policy, please do contact me.. I am a very reasonable and approachable guy that just wants to capture great pictures for people
